Antique Engraved Lucky Bean

Said to be inspired by the "sea beans" that washed up on British shores from across vast briny oceans, the beans' pods protected them from the salt water so that they could successfully germinate after great time and distance - which led to their association with luck and fertility, and made them a favourite in the symbolism-rich jewelry of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. 

Good antique condition with wear in line with age and use; appears to be converted from a cufflink or button and has evidence of soft (lead) solder, conversion has also meant that the bean doesn't lay flat on a necklace.
