Antique Ruby and Diamond Conversion Ring
Antique Ruby and Diamond Conversion Ring

This gorgeous ring, set with a plump pear of a ruby and two luscious old Euro diamonds had me stumped for a little while: the stones, clutched in a bevy of claw-like prongs, and with a curved, dynamic stem, seemed certainly to be some sort of fruit, juicy, ripe, and representing abundance and fertility. Yet, I couldn't quite place it... until I thought I'd been considering it the wrong way - flipped on its head perhaps I was looking at a trefoil clover, with luck on its side! Regardless of how you wear it, this antique stick pin, later lovingly converted to a ring, is blooming with beauty and symbolism, certainly evoking growth and renewal in its organic form, along with the passion and everlasting love connoted by the choice of ruby and diamond.
Very good antique and vintage condition with wear in line with age and use, including some abrasions to stones. Top of ring Victorian era likely stick pin (c1900) and later addition of band (c1970s). Includes third-party appraisal.
