Charming Edwardian Sapphire Scroll Ring
Charming Edwardian Sapphire Scroll Ring
Velvety blue sapphires set into rich yellow gold - one of our all time favourite combinations, this look stands the test of time. The high contrast offers depth and and warmth, while the ornately modelled gold resembles an unfurling scroll, a popular Edwardian design motif. A sturdy band offsets the flowing and delicate elements on the face of the ring.
This particular ring was certainly well loved, and shows a good amount of wear - a beautiful patina on the gold, but also surface abrasions and wearing of the facet junctions on the sapphires, at least one of which is a replacement. The diamonds as well show small scratches and chips to their surfaces and edges. By no means a perfect antique piece, at 115 years young this ring still has an abundance of character and charm and is ready for the next chapter of its long life.
