A positively breathtaking antique ring, showcasing a vibrant - frankly, near-electric - natural ruby centered in a halo of dazzling old cut diamonds. Halo style rings - defined by the ring of diamonds that surround a central stone (of any kind), date back hundreds of years, but particularly increased in popularity in the cluster rings of the Georgian era, and again after the 1860s in the Victorian era, upon the discovery of diamonds in South Africa and their increased availability. The stunning shade of reddish-pink of this ruby is picked up in the rainbow dispersion of the diamonds, which set the whole piece off like a firecracker in the sun.

Very good antique condition with wear in line with age and use, including wear to stones and gold. All stones are secure in their settings.
