Lockets and signets rings are independently some of the oldest styles of jewelry recorded - signet rings have a rich and long history, while lockets emerged from jewels that might be more accurately described as vessels - meant to hold perfumes or tinctures or herbs. The locket as a holder of keepsakes - portraits (photographic or earlier), hair, and the like - rose in popularity in the 19th century and has been particularly popular during wartimes ever since, as a way to hold close to you those who are physically far. While a combination locket-signet ring isn't a needle in a haystack find, they are fairly rare and delightful to come across.

Very good antique condition with wear in line with age and use, including minor evidence of past resizing, closure is very snug. While the original intact portrait can be removed and replaced, we're not liable for any haunting that may occur as a result, and you could always layer your photo on top!
