Heavy Antique Dual Portrait Locket Signet Ring MA
Heavy Antique Dual Portrait Locket Signet Ring MA
Lockets and signets rings are independently some of the oldest styles of jewelry recorded - signet rings have a rich and long history, while lockets emerged from jewels that might be more accurately described as vessels - meant to hold perfumes or tinctures or herbs. The locket as a holder of keepsakes - portraits (photographic or earlier), hair, and the like - rose in popularity in the 19th century and has been particularly popular during wartimes ever since, as a way to hold close to you those who are physically far. While a combination locket-signet ring isn't a needle in a haystack find, they are fairly rare and delightful to come across.
Very good antique condition with wear in line with age and use. Closure is secure with a satisfying click. While both portraits can be removed and replaced, we're not liable for any haunting that may occur as a result, and you could always layer your photos on top! Face engraved "MA."
